Situated at the mouth of the River Ouse in East Sussex, the Port of Newhaven is a minor but busy port. Its entrance is positioned between two piers, protected from the strong wind by a solid breakwater to the west. The port is the gateway to Dieppe in France on the southeast coast.

Newhaven's port is served is by two operators: Hoverspeed, which provides a fast, two hour crossing to Dieppe in France and Transmanche Ferries, providing three daily four-hour sailings to Dieppe.


There are a few amenities at the port, including a convenience store and coffee shop. Facilities for disabled passengers are available. There are specially designed rest rooms and wheelchair friendly areas in the terminal.

Hoverspeed provides three daily sailings to Dieppe in France, taking only two hours to complete the crossing.

Transmanche is the other ferry operator serving the Port of Newhaven. They provide three daily sailings to Dieppe with a crossing time of four hours.
