What to do in Newhaven


The coastal fortress of Newhaven is situated high on a hill and offers a journey back in time to wartime Britain. The fort displays crucial moments in Newhaven's history, including its function regarding coastal defence. It also offers wonderful views.

The Newhaven Local & Maritime Museum is well worth a visit if you have time left before your ferry departs. The museum displays a fascinating collection of pictures, models and artefacts illustrating the long history of the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry crossing as well as displaying other items relating to the town of Newhaven.

Beautiful gardens can be found in Paradise Leisure Park, as well local history information and a dinosaur park where you can learn all about prehistoric times. The botanical plant houses offer a stunning mixture of desert, temperate and rainforest plant life.

Around the ferry terminals there are several eateries, while in the town of Newhaven the Garden of Eden and Benbow's are recommended restaurants. In Newhaven, a few supermarkets can be found as well.
